Chris McLoughlin is known for his high-level strategic communication advice, collaborative stakeholder engagement, and his ability to execute projects on short time scales. He believes communication is more than conveying messages. It provides an essential narrative to stakeholders that is a strategic part of achieving an organisation’s overall goals.
Starting out in news media as a journalist, Chris worked in various roles including sub-editor, opinion columnist, designer, and eventually editorial leadership roles. After working in news media, Chris moved into government and corporate communication work.
During the COVID-19 response, Chris acted in the Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs role with the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. He had responsibility for the health service’s internal and external communication, ensuring critical information was provided to the public, staff and all stakeholders throughout the crisis.
Chris spent time at the Mackay Hospital and Health Service where he advised the health service’s leadership following findings of the investigation into local obstetrics and gyncaelogical services. He developed and led the recovery communication plan to ensure the Mackay community received transparent communication about the response of the health service.
Most recently, Chris served in a principal strategic communications advisory role with Queensland Health’s head office overseeing projects, including the launch its news website and managing key stakeholder relationships across health services, external organisations and the Minister’s office.
Chris has also worked with not-for-profit groups, small businesses, community leaders and local groups offering advice and assistance in terms of media, public relations, social media, marketing and community engagement.
After years of delivering media and communication solutions in complex environments, Chris has launched McLoughlin Media and Communication Solutions to provide tailored services suitable to individuals, businesses and organisations of all sizes.
